Mighty Web Designs Photo restoration sample 001COMMON PHOTOGRAPH RESTORATION TERMS

· Restoration is repairing a photograph to its original condition by removing spots, tears, red eye, fold lines, etc.
· Enhancements are improving the overall appearance of a photograph, such as adjusting brightness and/or contrast, sharpening, adjusting overall color, and cropping
· Special Effects include the adding of or removing of objects and people, applying deformation filters, or modifying the existing image to a condition different that the original photograph
· Adding Color is a method of modifying existing color(s) on a color photograph or adding color to a black and white photograph. It is part of "Special Effects" that can be applied to the entire photograph, or just portions of a specific photograph. There are three basic categories of adding color, namely adding color to an object, adding color to a person, and adding color to an entire photograph.
· Edge / Border Effects (Vignetting) is an effect added to a photograph, often a portrait, that fades off at the surrounding edges. This creates a "soft" outer edge effect.

Each photograph that I receive is handled with the utmost care and delicacy. Each photograph is stored digitally with a photographic scanner. We then perform ALL restoration processes and techniques to this digital "copy" so that your original is NEVER altered in any way, shape, or form.

SCANNING AND EVALUATION
Once I receive your original photograph and instructions, I first evaluate the damage and then plan the restoration process. I select which photographic restoration processes and techniques will be best suited for your photograph. You will then be contacted for the total cost of your project.  Next, your photograph is scanned with a photographic flat bed scanner. The result is a digital "copy" of your original photograph. I will then adjust various photographic elements such as exposure, contrast, and brightness levels to obtain the best image possible.

RESTORATION PROCESS
I start by removing the blemishes, spots stains, and other aspects that detract from the digital copy of your photograph. Next, I will skillfully repair the cracks, rips, tears, and missing elements of the photograph. I work methodically to blend each repaired are so that it matches surrounding parts of the photograph. If areas of the photograph are missing, I will use other areas in the photograph to re-create the missing pieces.

PRINTING
Photographs will be printed in the same size as the original unless the clients request a different size. We can also provide a digital file of the restored photograph for archival purposes on a CD for a very reasonable cost.
